Which synthetic ATF do I buy? 850

I have '94 and '95 850s. The Volvo spec says that Dexron III / Mercon III are OK to use in my 850s. Since Ford & GM both no longer allow use of those trademarked names, I can't find ATF products with those names.

So, which ATF do I use?

I'd prefer synthetic if I can find a decent price.

Thanks.

A biased reply 850

AMSOIL synthetic ATF is probably the best available. Service life is at least double that of the non-synthetic, and in most cases will be a fill for the life of the card (assuming a complete change). Mobil 1 is very good.

Best way to buy AMSOIL is to set up an account. Ten bucks for 6 months, and you buy as much (or little) as you want at wholesale. Case of 12 qts ATF runs about $78 plus tax and shipping.

I've been using it in my automatics since it came on the market some 20+ years ago.

Rather than going to the Wally world or Target big box stores, try your local autoparts stores. Half an isle for ATF. Mobile1 will be about $5-6 a quart.

Please answer, we need to know if the advice is good or bad. The 164 has a new home, all I am left with are 2 turbos :)
