Brake light/spedometer/odometer V70-XC70 2000

Over the past couple of days when exiting the expressway in the morning on my way to work the brake light has illuminated on the dash. At the same time the digital odometer goes off line as well as the speedometer dial. I have had the traction control and ABS warning lights on for a couple of weeks that I was attributing to a bad wheel sensor. Could these be related? I also know I am due for a front pad change. Might I be able to take care of it while I'm down there?

The bulb out indicator means that one of your brake lights is not functioning and is probably burned out or has a bad contact. It has nothing to do with the speedo/odometer.
Your ABS light, depending on the code, is probably due to a bad abs module. Victor is on vacation for 10 days, but you can still visit his web site: http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/

Just don't leave an email.
A bad ABS module will turn off the speedometer, they are related.

The bulb out indicator is not turning on. There is another red indicator that just says "BRAKE" on it. it is to the left of the "PARK BRAKE" indicator. I'm thinking it is just telling me to change my brake pads or my fluid level is low. These fancy new cars are messing me up. Thanks for the tip on the ABS/trac-control.

You should check the level of the brake fluid, it is probably low.
