850 won't turn over 850 1996

Ok this morning I went for a quick drive 5miles or so and turned my car off to go to the store. When I came out I tried turning it over, and it started ok, but was chugging as if out of gas. I went to put it it Reverse nothing happened and it stoled a moment later. I turned it over again and again go the same result the engine started to shake. The next time I tried, all I got was a full crank with no turn over. I thought it maybe the battery so I got a jump and still full crank with no turn over. I'm thinking it's the fuel filter. But I'm sure I replaced it 2 years ago. Although when I look under the car, the filter is black and doesn't look like a chrome part that you get at the auto store. Any suggestions?

Hi, fuel pump relay? Two years ago my -94 850 did the same on a store parking slot. When you turn the ignition on the relay gives pulses and the fuel pump brings pressure up but after starting the relay can not hold the contact and pressurized fuel is out. Recranking gets your plugs wet and adds on starting difficulties. I would replace the relay for 50$ first.-Tapsa

Hey thanks Tapsa! Actually that was the first thing I was going to do. I went online yesterday reading just about every free article I could. As for as I know it has never ben replaced. So it's long over due. I think I can pick one up for around $40 at Auto Zone. But first I will pull it and see it they can test it, before I buy it. Thanks again, I post more once I solve the problem.
