Volvo windshield wiper issue:has it been resolved?

Hi All,
Just back from a business trip during which I rented an 06 or 07 Volvo T wagon. Liked everything about the car but during a snowstorm, more sleet than anything, I noticed that the wipers really were unsatisfactory.
Perhaps it was just the wiper blades on this specific vehicle but I am wondering if it`s the old 850 wiper issues all over again.
Not of "great import" but I`m curious.

    Volvo fixed the wipers. The driver's side no longer lifts up in the air or comes loose at the bolt. But, the long sweep and the weak spring is still a problem for those of us in the New World. I wonder if the spring in the Ford is the same length?? Hmmm.
