Hi all...

Wierd... I was driving home and stopped on the way...when the wife went to start the car...of course she still put's her foot on the gas...it reved upto to around 2,000 - 2500 rpms and then stalled... She attempted to start again and it kicked over a little roughly..then stallled again...afterwards it would only crank over..and sounded like it was not geting any spark or fuel? In any case I ended up calling the towing service who brought us home before they were going to drop the car off to the local Volvo dealer for diagnosis...before he left....we decided to see if the car would start again...and voila..it did...!?!?! No CEL....nothing...? Weird.it's almost as if it got vapor-locked? Anyone experience this? Does holding the gas pedal all the way down to the floor-board have any effect on hte ETM...like a 'reset' or something?

PS...I've had the new software uploaded along with the ETM replacement... Sounds like I might have to swing into the dealer to have the software updated...

In advance, thanks to all who respond...!

Frank

With ALL fuel injection systems, a foot on the floor while starting shuts off the gas flow. This is to counteract a flooded engine. Partial gas is not reccomended because you can easily flood the engine, which is what happened when the engine stalled. The plugs got wet and it refused to start. By the time you got home, the gasoline in the cylinders vaporized and the engine started.
NEVER have your foot on the gas when starting, unless there is already a problem.

Tell your wife to never pump or give the accelator and movement as fuel injection does not need that. It can cause the NO START condition you experienced.
