Center Console Light not working S40-V40

Anyone know how to replace the bulb for the center console? The bulb for the knob that controls the direction of the ventilation is not working for me.

I have taken it apart for visual inspection and the green bulb does is not one to be plucked out and replaced. It must be harder than that. Therefore, I am assuming I have to take out the entire plastic assembly that holds all three knobs.

Anyone with experience with this, will you please let me know? Thanks!

Center Console Light not working S40-V40

I replaced a whole mess of lights in the center console and radio of my 2000 v40. It took time but cost basically nothing...

I removed the climate control unit. In the back in deep recesses are the "sockets for the bulbs. Using a the eraser end of a pencil I was able to remove the dead bulb. It has a white base and bulb looks blue. The bulb is in fact just a regular bulb with a blue rubber cover on it - do not loose the cover (like I did). I removed the bulb from the socket by just unwinding the wires that hold it in place. I bought a replacement bulb from parts express (an electronics parts website). I then put the new bulb in the old socket and replaced it, unfortunately since I lost the blue cover the color of the new bulb doesn't match the old bulb.

It was a pretty easy job. The hard part was finding the right bulb. Unfortunately, I did this over a year ago and I don't remember the part #.

FWIW I just replaced all three bulbs (only 2 were out but decided to replace all 3 since they had it open) at the dealer's and it cost $175.
