Odometer 850 1996

Hey there.

I have just reset my odometer and now it is not turning at all and is therefore not recording mileage. The Speedo still works. Any Solutions?

Its not recommended to reset the trip odometer in theses older volvos, because you brake the small 15 teeth gear in the odometer unit that moves the miles as the car is driven. Common failure in these cars and easy to repair yourself with the speedo unit out, or you can have a speedo repair unit fix it for you for about $150.

These gears go for about $30 plus shipping on the internet. I just did mine and happen to have an extra NEW small 15 tooth gear, that you can have for $15 shipping included.

Thanks - although I would be happier to pay postage as I live in New Zealand.
Are there directions anywhere for removing the odometer unit so that I am able to replace myself?
