Rear Window problem S60 2001

I drove my S60T5 through the carwash today and was surprised at the amount of
water coming in behind me on the seat. I hurried home and ran out with a
towel and mopped up what I could and left the door open so it could dry better.
Upon inspection I noticed that although I had used the power window control to
make sure all the windows were up, the window in question was NOT all the way
up. I tried running it up and down with both the driver's control and the
control on the LR door and it was the same with both controls.
As background info it seems like the door upholstery panels on both rear doors
have more than the usual "give" to them. Queries as to how they were attached
to the dealer I took it to in Tulsa for the 67,500 mile service ($499) yielded
the following: "They are adhered in place." W3: "You mean installed with an
adhesive?" D: "Yes." W3: "Can you tell me what kind of adhesive you use?"
D: "3M" W3: "3M makes thousands of different adhesives." D: "That is all the
information I have."
This is the same dealer who would not sell me the rubber cover for the trunk
latch actuator above the license plate, a small piece of flat rubber about
2" x 3½" but suggested I replace the entire latch mechanism for $250.
I am not in a hurry to go back to them.....

I suspect something in the LR window drive mechanism is stripped, causing
jerky and incomplete motion. I haven't got into VADIS to see if I can find
anything on this yet, but does anyone know if there is an easy fix for this?

    George,
I posted this problem on Volvospeed and got the following response:

The door panels are held in by clips/pins. You'll see them when you go around the edge of the door panel, just take something and press in the center and it should pop the clip/pin out. It's more of a door panel frame and then the door panel with the leather is glued to that frame. Make sure you unscrew the doorlock pin before you take the door panel off.

    and:

I think there is a writeup in Bay 13, very similar to the s80. And you don't need to remove the doorlock pin before you take the panel off, I did 2 today.

Those 2 replys make a lot of sense. It could be the regulator which is bad, the regulator is attached to the window motor, but you won't be able to tell until you get the panel off.

"doorlock pin" is the button you push down to lock the door, and pull up to unlock it?
The buttons around the edge of the door seem sorta like the chrome retaining
buttons along the side of 140/164 cars. If you push the pin through, can you
recover it and use it again? Or had I better get some new ones first?

I am planning to keep this car for a while. I really enjoy driving it and
also have too much invested in it to let it go very easy - about as much as
I paid for the total of ALL the cars I have ever owned before, and that is a
      BUNCH of cars!

There are two online databases for Volvo repair,
            http://www.volvospeed.com/Repair

            and
            http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/index.php

Both are good reading for the white engined cars.

        Negative to door lock pin.

forgot to mention to take out the t25 torx in the handle, there is a little cover over it

Make sense? I think what they are talking about is the inside handle, not the button that goes up and down.

    George:

You might want to check on Volvospeed for some answers. I have only graduated to a 98 S-70 T5, so am a few years behind you. Can't imagine changes have been too great. Sounds like you have a money hungry Volvo dealer. BTW, nothing wrong with used parts. I get mine from Pinkeys in Milwaukee. Holler if I can help.
