contact your insurance company, if fix is covered get two estimates. this is what i did when my door was gouged with 500 miles on the car. I once tried to sand, prime, repaint a door on a 1966 mustang. it was a disaster. unless you are a car painting pro, get professional help.

Try the touchup paint. Clean the scratch w/a wax remover such as Ditzo 440, or something like that. Even rubbing alcohol will clean acceptably. Then, after the paint is applied, and has had ample time to dry, try a small amount of rubbing compound designed for clear coat paints, (such as a 1500 grit compound), and put a small amount on a rag. Then using the tip of your finger, try to rub over the paint repair. Don't use too much pressure! The trick is to remove the excess touchup paint without removing too much. Sort of like blending the area together. It may not look perfect, but it's gonna accomplish 2 things. First, it's gonna keep the area from rusting, and second, it's a bunch cheaper than a body shop.

Crazed....since you see white, not silver, seems like they just got to the primer. Just for kicks, you could go to volvo dealer, get some exact match color touch up paint and call IPD. They have this stuff in thier catalog that smooths out touch up paint. You could try just a small section to see what happens.

I was keyed the entire length of my car (front qtr panel, both doors, rear qtr panel). I finally broke down and got an estiamte $1200. I am paying the $100 deductable and they claim it won't hurt my premium because it wasn't my fault.

Sorry to hear that. It is a very expensive fix, the entire panel will have to be repainted. That white you see is the primer. Comprehensive on your insurance policy should cover it, minus the deduction.

Some a-hole hit my rear quarter panel in a parking lot. $250.
