Automatic Climate Console Console bulb out. 850 1996

Hi All,

I have a '96 850 GLT (manual tranny). One of the light bulbs on the automatic climate control console went out. I was told by my mechanic that I have to remove the entire unit in order to replace the bulbs. I was also told that I have to remove the radio before I can remove the climate control console. How is the climate control console secured to the dash? How do you remove the console? Has anyone replaced the light bulbs before? Let me know.
