Estimated Costs? 850 1996

My car needs serious work.

I need 2 new engine mounts. I don't expect that to cost too much, but I am not sure of the actual costs.

I need two new front axles.

I need two new front strut mounts.

The car is only worth about 3500. If the cost of repairs is more than 50% of the cost of the car, it probably isn't even worth doing. I should sell and cut my losses.

Anyone have the work done? How much did it cost you?

The work you described could be called serious, but for these cars it is routine. Then there is the serious routine work, which includes the rear main seal, AC, etc. My wild ars guess is around $1000 at an indy mechanic for what you need done.

I suppose however if you are driving down the road, the strut towers are squeaking like mad, the steering wheel lurches because your CV joints are shot, and the engine is vibrating like mad, you could call this work very serious!

    Good luck.

These are DIYer cars. If you are not inclined to work on it yourself you should probably bail out, and now is as good a time as any. If you do work on it yourself, and enjoy it, it's perfectly viable transportation.
