Replacing small bulb in center arm rest console? 850 1995

I just noticed the other day that the nice little light that usually stays lit at night located inside of the center console no longer works. Anyone tell me how to change the bulb? I haven't looked at it real close so it is probably something simple.

I did this a few years ago on my 1993 850. I can't remember exactly how I did it, but I do remember it was somewhat fiddly, and the people at the parts department of my local dealer were rather embarrassed at the price of the bulb which at the time was nearly six pounds! So you really need to want to have that pleasant light in the foot well!

If you are talking about the rear ashtray light, that black panel does come out to give you access. If I remember correctly (less and less every year), the white plastic lense comes out also, but I forgot if it goes in or comes out.

you can remove the ashtray and then the plastic panel behind it. This way you will be able to access the bulb.

      good luck!

No, no. Everyone is talking about an ashtray but I am speaking of the
center console between the two front seats that has a hinge on it and opens up to store small items or your sunglasses. When you lift open this hinged door
at night when your headlights are on, there is a little square white plastic
lens cover with a bulb behind it to illuminate the inside contents at night.
