Will a turbo tranny work in a non turbo car? 850

I'm think about buying a used tranny for my '95 non turbo. There's an S70 turbo tranny for sale on ebay. Will that work and do I absolutely need one from a non turbo car?

Hi, I just installed a turbo radiator in my non turbo 94 850. The only difference is an additional coolant tank for engine? oil on the passenger side. You simply do not use it. I hope you are getting a decent radiator used. The fins on my 94 original were dust. I bought the new radiator on ebay stores for $120 shipped. You better be saving a bundle buying used. It's a pain to replace the radiator, not hard, just a pain.

What's the deal with a radiator change on a thread about changing the transmission? No relation in this case. I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that if you have to change the tranny anyway, you could go to a manual tranny instead of an auto one. Many over on the message board at volvospeed.com are doing this and talking about it, so check it out.

While it will physically bolt up it will not work the way you want it too. I had the unusual experience of bolting in 2 turbo trannies under warranty until it was figured out that the parts department had given me turbo trannies for a non-turbo car. The big difference was that when you accelerated hard it would snap your neck when it shifted. If driven moderately it was even noticeable but the first time you went to get on the freeway it was a neck snapper. You will need to find a non-turbo trans for your needs.
