Mystery noise in right front fender V70-XC70

My local body shop just replaced my front bumper cover and did a little touch up paint work on the hood of my 2000 V70. However, when driving it home I noticed a sound of something loose from the right front side, almost like a screwdriver or socket rolling around as I go and stop.

I wonder if this has happened to anyone? Is there some cavity in the frame or front fender where some could fall into and roll around like that?

Thanks,

RGW

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try and take it back next week and suggest they have a look in the fender well through the door opening or perhaps try with a magnet.

I have had my bumper and fenders completely off. I vote to go with Klaus. If they left something loose, it is buried fairly well and requires a bit of diassembly (most likely) to get to. You want it right - the darned fenders and fender liners will make noise if they aren't just right. I honestly can't think of a place where something could easily roll for any distance though. Good luck. Don

Probably the bolt that held the old bumper on. Take it back to the shop and have them get it out! The area is very hard to get to with the bumper cover on.

If you have an extension with a magnet on it you might try swirling it around in through the space visible when the door is open, but if you don't pick up anything fairly quickly, I'd go with what Klaus says.

To answer your question, yes there is. YOu can open your door and there is a very small space that you can shine a flashlight into and see into your fender well. Good luck.
