850 Lights Behind Heater/Blower Panel 850

The lights behind the heater/blower panel (above the stereo) have gone out on my 96 850. Does anybody have any experience replacing these bulbs? Does this require removal of the dash?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

is this the manual or the climate control version of the control?

The climate control system just pulls out.. if you have your original radio on it (dont forget the power off code which you will need to reset it) you can pop it out and then push the unit out.

I had to make a repair to this recently and instead of pulling out my new radio... i just got a 2 pair of plyers and took off the knobs.. held on to the metal studs the knobs went on.. and a short sharp tug got it to come out. Once thats out you can remove the panel to get to the lights.

If its the manual, i believe that there are two screws that hold the unit in place under the control knobs.

Thanks for the reply. It's the manual heater, not the automated climate control. But it sounds like you were able to get the panel off without removing the dash - thats exactly what I wanted to hear. Are the replacement bulbs easy to find at the local auto store or are they volvo specific?

      Thanks again.

      Rob
