Please help me out here, fellow 850 drivers. For the first time, I am noticing water under my car after stopping even though the A/C is off. It has been about 70-76 degrees here the past few days. The water is approx where the firewall is ahead of the passenger. Here are the climate control settings:
Temp: 62 degrees left and right
Auto/OFF/Fan speed: OFF
Auto/Outlets/Defrost: Defrost (straight up)
REC: clicked to right (OFF)
A/C: clicked to the left (OFF)

I won't bore you with why the setting are what they are (different than usual). I previously noticed that it appeared the A/C might be running with the controls set OFF and the temperature very low. Can anyone comment on if what I am seeing is "normal"? Thanks a lot. Don '95 854T 165k

Defrost uses the AC. That is just normal condensation.

Klaus is correct - the defrost setting on Volvos (most models 850 and newer that I'm aware of) overrides the A/C switch (whether on or off). If you thought you heard your A/C running, you did, because it was. Luckily for you, nothing to be worried about :)

Hi Klaus. Thanks a lot. It alarmed me at first, but once I saw it was clear, I wasn't so concerned. Still nice to know it is normal. By the way, love the picture of your cars, but selfishly I was hoping to see the 854T. They both look real sweet. Don
