CV Joint Removal V70-XC70 1999

I'm in the middle of removing the left (passenger side) CV joint from my 99 V70. The outer joint came out with a problem. I can't separate the inner joint though. Is there any trick to remove the inner joint, or do I need to pry it off with a lever. I don't want to risk damaging the inner joint. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Glad you clarified that one, I was about to call you a weanie if you could not get the passenger side out. The driver's side is a bit of a bitch but it can be done with a big screwdriver. There is a special tool for it and it works bitchen but I go for the monster screwdriver everytime and get it out probably 90+% of the time without the special tool. Just becareful and don't crack the case being an animal. One other option is to drive a couple of tapered chisles in between the joint and the case. Tap them in evenly so it doesn't get jammed in there.

thanks...it feels like that thing just doesn't want to come out, but sounds like I need to use more force. So, I am using leverage in the correct place? I'm wedging a screwdriver between the aluminum transmission and a black cup like object that is attached to the inner boot. Thanks, I may wimp out and get the tool from the dealership.
