Code Checking on 96 models 850

So, I popped my hood and tried to follow the instructions for resetting the check engine code, and the indicator is not there. I hear rumors that the 96's don't have it, only those with 93 thru 95's do.

So how can I manually reset the codes without an OBD plug in?

1996 is when they changed over to the OBD-II system that requires a scan tool. I suggest you do a little checking around before you buy one - I bought one from my NAPA dealer, and there are a lot of things it won't do.

If you don't have the diagnostic boxes, you can't. You'll have to plug in an OBD-II scan tool into the socket located under the coin holder in the center dash.
