Overhead engine stabilizer bushing S60 2001

At the KC meet a week ago (GREAT MEET!! Thanks, Kansas City Club!!)
I found out why my S60 jerks on shifting into gear and starting forward,
especially after backing up. The rubber bushing in the aluminum bracket
bolted to the top of the engine was wallered out. I thought they had worked
those design problems out! Can anybody recommend a different bushing that
will last in there? Maybe a suspension bushing that would press into the
aluminum bracket?

George:

Just finished installing a new poly bushing on my "new" 98 S70 T5 from fcp groton. They have good prices, probably the best and an 800 number. Yes, these do go south, but the poly is darn near never needing replacement. BTW, these are relatively cheap, in Volvo terms.

Off we go on a trip from TX to MN, WI and MI. Family reunion in our new car.

For a '98 fcpgroton.com has them, but not for a newer model, like a '01 (they are different). Try www.ipdusa.com And yes, the poly bushing is the say to go! And, they are having their summer sale beginning on Wed the 5th until the 7th, so call them to buy: 1-800-444-6473, and mention the sale (believe 10% to 15% on most, if not all items).

Thanks!
I saw the poly bushing in the IPD catalog I got at the KC meet.
Guess I'll order one and some Mintex pads. That black stuff on the
aluminum wheels has me worried.

That poly bushing from IPD will last forever, but it does transfer a little vibration to the body. I don't even notice mine, others complain a lot.
That brake dust will eat your shiney wheels. I have used Metal Master and am very happy with them. There is still dust, but not like the OEM pads.
