Horn Relocation - Anyone Done It? V70-XC70

I've always wanted to relocate the horns to improve the airflow through the condenser & the transmission cooler & the oil cooler & the radiator.

It just seems to make sense.

I have read a note or two, Bay13? or somewhere else? I've thought of just behind the lower slots on the front bumper air dam, turned sideways and pointing slightly down to prevent overloading the diaphram and allow water drainage.

I welcome any comments from someone who's already done this!

Thanks in advance.

I didn't relocate my horns (yet) but I swapped them for the Hella Compact Trumpet horns that seem to be louder (not quite sure yet..) and finagled with the existing wiring... seems ok. I like the idea of placing them in the air dam... will take a closer look in the future...

I did it last weekend on my S70. It was different than the 850 diagram on Bay13 for my S70, which I assume is going to be like your V70. The one horn fit in the wheel well area fine but not the second. I took a piece of garage opener bracket I had laying around and fashioned a way to secure the second horn. Both are pointing down in the driver's side wheel well area, behind the fog light and work fine. It is a worth while mod, and I can take some pictures if you want and send them to you if you wish...just email me by clicking on my envelope in this post.

Yes, its doable.

I relocated mine to the area under the drivers side fender. There is a hole in that area that can take a long bolt. Just unhook the wiring from its hooks and reroute. There is plenty of cable.

It really helps with cooling in the summer with the AC on.

Glad to hear there is plenty of cable . . no splicing required. I'll have a look next time the car is up.

It's always bugged me, especially living in a hot climate.

thanks
