FWD Manual Trans reverse lamps not illuminating, bulbs OK

My 98 C70 T5M's reverse bulbs are illuminating when reverse. The bulbs are fine, and a while back it seemed that the lights would not stay on unless you applied some pressure to the shift lever, but once released and still in gear, the lights would go out, so I think the switch needs adjustment.

How do I adjust this switch, from inside the car, or underneath?

The switch is on top of the trans, just under the air filter housing and is not adjustable. Simple to replace. Screws in to the trans case, two wire conector.
