I have been getting these messages every once in a while. One of these will even cause the cruise control to turn off. Sometimes, when I get one of these messages the odometer goes blank. I usually can turn the car off, count to 30 and turn it back on and the messages are gone. The car doesn't drive any differently when I get these messages. It is just an agrivation to have to pull of the road, turn the car off and then start it to clear the messages. The car is a 2001 T5 with 123,500K. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know when I take it to the dealer it won't act up.

    $700 for the fix, oil change and new software download. Wish I had seen Vitor's information sooner.

    You have described most of the symptoms of a defective ABS control unit.

    If there is an Autozone or Pepboys in your area, have them get the codes out of the computer. Write them all down. Then clear them. These codes will point to specifics, rather than the general area.
    There is probably a vacuum leak on at least one of the elbows. 125K miles is about time to start replacing the elbows.
