brake pad reccomendations V70-XC70

I'm thinking about changing the front brake pads on the V70 that I've had for about two weeks. No, they are not worn but the V70 takes considerably more pedal effort to stop than my 85 240 wagon and 2002 S40, both of which stop like you're hitting a brick wall when you stomp so I know what Volvo brakes normally do. The 240 has Volvo pads and the S40 has Mintex.

Yes I checked the power assist. Works perfectly with no vacuum leaks.

The reason I'm looking at the pads is that the last owner got screwed on a front brake job by NTB just a few months ago. New rotors, 'Ultra Quiet' pads, and front fluid flush...fluid does look nice and clean. The front pads were 70 bucks just for the parts!!!! And they are not quiet. He's probably sworn off Volvos now because he was taken for a little over a grand for front brakes between the job and a revisit for an ABS sensor replacement. Some shops have no shame I guess.

So I'm looking at FCP Groton and they have quite a selection of pads. Considering Volvo, Mintex, Textar, and Rofren. My thinking at this point:

*Volvo pads are great on the 240. Stopped well on the S40 but occasionally squeeled and gave off a lot of dust, therefore I have the Mintex on the S40.
*Mintex: quiet, clean, stop great (owed by TMD Friction)
*Textar: no experience but also owned by TMD. Claims to be TMD's premium brand.
*Rofren: no experience. US manufactured pads. Rated highly on other sites and meets TUV and ECE R90 standards.

Opinions on pads?
