I have a 2000 V70 XC and was just told by my dealer that my upper engine mount needs to be replaced. I have heard this is a DIY job (I would love to save $200). I went onto IPDUSA.com but am not exactly sure what I need. Can anyone assist and is it really easy enough to do on my own??

    Just a warning. The poly mount transfers a little more vibration from the engine than the rubber one, but the poly will last the life of the car.

      My UPPER engine moun broke at 30K.
      I have had it for last 4 yrs, no problems at all. Got ifrom IPD but check w them to be sure it fits your 2000 model.

      I did not notice any increased in vibration at all.


      EASY DIY: but note it is hard to align it back because you have the "pull" the engine forward a bit when the old mount is out.
      If I do this again, then I would use a small piece of wood like 2 x2 and wedge the engine "forward" first against the firewall (fidn a safe place to wedge it). Just enoguh to hold it in the normal position.
      Then remove the old mount and install the new one.
      You may have to bend the metal edges of the metal brackets for the new mount to go in.

    Very easy...just buy the poly mount and follow the directions that will come with it. 15 minute tops. www.fcpgroton.com also sells one (compare for who's cheaper)!
