Transm. Control Module S40-V40 2001

Regarding the P0700 code I posted about previously, I found out through "Alldata" that a DTC set in the TCM. You must erase this code before the MIL light can be erased. So, how do you erase a code that is stored in the TCM?

Thanks in advance, Rick

You must have the Vadis system to do this. This requires a subscription and a $2,100 cable from Volvo. You will have to take this to a machanic that has the Vadis system to reset - dose not have to be a Volvo dealer. I have been told that there may have been an extended warrantee on the 2001 (not a recall - I think it was 2001) where Volvo will reprogram your transmission. This is probably not related to the error codes you are receiving so this may not help you. Maybe you can check and then they might read and reset your transmission for free. Worth a try.

Parts stores will not turn off a MIL light. I tried turning the light off with my friends scanner but the code that is in the TCM is still there cuz it is telling the PCM to turn on the MIL light again.

SCAN TOOL! Go to a AutoZone or a PepBoys...they should do it for you for free.
