I read on another post about something called an "ETM" and the possibility of being reimbursed for its replacement--apparently it is a poorly designed part?

What is the ETM? Should I worry about it (I have a '98 v70 awd with about 82k miles).

Don't worry...you bought the last model year (as I did) that does not yet have the ETM, thus no ETM issue. Count yourself lucky!
