Thanks for the replies and info.
I'll get right on the ordering process.

    I've got 2 1995 850's. Guess how many odometers I've fixed. 850 1995

On one 850, lost odometer at 145,000. My other one at 162,000. Ordered gear for both at the same time from odometergears.com and was very impressed.
Following volvospeed pictures, as well as a link I'll paste below, it wasn't too bad. Took me 3x as long as most claim, but I'm really really slow.

Yep. Very common problem with the 850's. The tiny pinion drive gear inside the odometer housing has failed and needs to be replaced. Take a look at www.odometergears.com and order one, then go over to Bay13 and look at how to pull the instrument panel out. There's a few good write ups on replacing the gear posted on the web, do a search. But the first thing you'll need is the replacement drive gear. Good luck.

If it's a '95 or older 850 with the DTC boxes under the hood you can read the actual mileage off the ECU through that if you want to.

How do you read the mileage off the ECU?

      Thanks

        Yuri,

As long as you have the DTC boxes up under the hood ('93-'95).

        1. Switch ignition on

        2. Connect the fly wire to socket - A7

        3. Push button 5 times

        4. When LED comes on and stays on, enter code 1-1-1 as follows:
        - press the button once when LED is still on
        - wait for LED to go out and come on again
        - press the button once when LED is still on
        - wait for LED to go out and come on again
        - press the button once when LED is still on
        - read off response, which will be the last three digits of the odometer miles

        5. Repeat steps #3-4, but enter code 1-1-2 (that is, press the button twice on the last step); read off the response, which will be the first three digits of the odometer miles. If you have less than 100,000 miles, the first digit will read as 10 blinks.

That's all there is to it.
