I have a 96 850 n/a with about 153k miles. About 6 months ago I developed a pretty substantial oil leak (not coming from the rear main seal). As a result I check and add oil frequently. About a month ago my oil pressure light started staying on when I would start my car (cold start ups) for a number of seconds (10 - 20 seconds). The more recent I've driven the car, the quicker the light goes out. Today, the light flickered when I started to accelerate. I quickly pulled over and checked the oil level - it was down 1/2 qt so I filled it up. I am hoping the leak has nothing to do with the pressure issue and the pressue issue is a result of a failing oil pump. Does this sound plausable? I won't be able to get the car into the shop for another week or so. Luckily, I only drive 3-4 miles a day. Obviously, I wouldn't drive the car if the light came on and stayed on. My fear, after doing some research online is of "major internal enginge problems." The car runs great, no smoke (white or blue), and there is only a very short period (maybe 5-10 seconds) of lifter noise (chatter?) on particularly cold start ups. Any ideas? Thanks!
