I bought my 1994 850 for 3k. A week later I got in an accident which had a payout of $2700. So if I do the work myself, the car will end up costing my practically nothing. It is completely driveable, but needs a front bumper cover for dual headlights, both fender liners, rt lower molding with cutout for wipers, and the rt wiper assembly.

1)Does anyonw know where I can get a pre-painted lower molding online?
2)Do the one piece bumper covers you see online need painted, or are they all the grey like the top was that doesn't need painted?

I am looking to do this well but for cheap, leaving some cosmetics behind. Any suggestions?

1) Lower moldings do not come prepainted, unless you go through the dealer and it will cost you an additional $200. Better off to bring a new one to your local paint shop and have them paint it. Plastic takes a special paint mix.

2) Not sure about 1994, but 1995-7 have the same gray plastic cover and cannot take paint.

It is easy to do it all your self, but the parts are not free. Watch out for shipping costs. If there is a salvage yard in your state, call them for the inner fenders, wiper, etc. Ask them if they have a spoiler in your color?

Thanks for the reply. I guess the only thing I am really curious about now is, the front bumpers came as a two piece, with the bumper cover, and the lower valance as separate pieces. The ones I see selling online though have migrated to a one-piece unit. Would the lower valance need painted, or do you think the whole bumper cover is made out of the grey plastic that only used to be on the top? Here is the one I have been looking at:

From the pic, it looks like it is not even primed. The cheaper one has no gray plastic cover??

Much more expensive, but comes in colors. This is what the dealers supply, OEM stuff instead of made in China.
