turbo meter 850

I have '95 850 turbo. the turbo is not working propery. but, i am not sure if turbo is broken or not. the turbo meter does not go to the right as much as it used to. it stops at the little bit right. can you guys think what is the probable cause? thank you.

    Octane rating 850

I have a 1995 850 turbo. If I run 93 octane, I can peg the boost gauge all the way to the right upon acceleration. If I run 89 octane, I only get 2/3 into the white under full acceleration. The ecu retards the spark to prevent preignition, which restricts power (please correct me if I am wrong on this point).

If your turbo is spinning but you don't get the proper acceleration and your boost guage does not move very far into the white zone when you punch the accelerator, then then it's likely a vacuum leak somewhere in the turbo system. Check all hoses (including the large intake hoses) for cracks/holes.

I don't have a boost or vac gauge on my XC but I really don't have any boost plus a code of P0172. The engine seems as if it stalls when it reaches 3k. No boost = No power = No fun. I'll be replacing all vacuum lines and intercooler hoses with silicone this weekend and I expect a large improvement in performance.

Check the vacuum hose for cracks, leaks. There is a hose that goes from your left foot up to the gauge, you will have to remove the kick panels to find it. Volvospeed has pics in their instrument cluster removal help pages.
