What is the gas mileage of a V70R? V70-XC70

Hello All,

I'm looking at a 2005 V70R with a manual 6 speed. I realize it is almost silly to ask what kind of mileage this car get because of its high performance nature. But I have some questions:

1) What kind of mileage have owners experienced with day to day driving that includes some local driving and highway driving?

2) Are these cars practical to live with on a day to day basis, or are they better suited for use on a race track?

3) Are these cars subject to more maintenance than you typical V70 AWD model?

Thanks to all who repond. I just want, if possible, to have some sort of handle on these questions before I take the plunge.

    We have an '04 V70.
    1) Hwy mileage is around 25 mpg. City is around 19 mpg.
    2) They are easy to live with if you are mechenically inclined (a lot of quirks here and there). Still a GREAT daily driver (lots of fun)
    3) I don't think they have more maint. issues than another AWD model. They do have more maint. issues than a front wheel drive T-5 (previous car).

    Lexington, Ky to Orlando, Fl We adveraged about 22mpg with a torpedo on top and a thule wind screen. USING MID GRADE

    in town, wife gets 18-19 mpg in our 99 V70 AWD R. I think she puts in regular, she wont spend the extra $2.50 FOR THE GOOD STUFF.

    This car handles great, I wish it was a 2wd model... less stuff to go wrong, more power felt as it's not as heavy of a car.

    Mine is an automagic, but on the highway it gets 25 to 27(depending on the tire compounds). The real difference, a high pressure turbo requires premium grade gasoline but I cheat and use middle grade when I know I will be cruising on the Interstate all day.
    The sport suspension will let you feel every bump, but the body does not lean. The seats are comfortable for long trips. The power is amazing. The tires loose their treads quickly, due mostly to accelleration!
