ABS Controller Repair...Victor Rocha...'98 S70 T-5 S70

Hi All...I am a 58 year old that wants to do more of my own maintenance on my autos and my motorcycles. I just did an ABS Controller repair using Victor Rocha to do the rebuild...address below.

http://home.earthlink.net/~vicrocha/Volvo_Parts/Volvo_V70_ABS.htm

I removed on Thursday...rec'd back from Victor on Monday (I sent prepaid as I wanted back quickly)...and re-installed Monday afternoon!

As a wanabee mechanic Victor's instructions made the task quite easy...a little extra work with the turbo plumbing. I had to re-install twice...because I got excited and did not read Victor's directions! Second try worked great.

Since I live in Minnesota, I was able to go right out and test on ice covered roads...ABS worked great.

I saved almost $850 as local Volvo dealer estimated about $1000 to fix. I am now ready to take on future tasks...wish they all had Victor's instructions!

It got above 0F today (6F) and my attached garage is down to 34F. I am not looking forward to even changing the oil on my 98. I guess those of us who live west of the Twin Cities heat sink will have to wait until May before we can stop wearing gloves.
Fun doing your owm fixes, isn't it. Sure does beat paying Borton Volvo their $110/hour (and you need to leave the car here).

Klaus...you got that part right! I have a wood stove in my garage near Two Harbors...when I took out the ABS controller...but I "toughed" it our in my Eden Prairie garage when I installed it...a bit chilly!

Ya...it seems the Borton's answer is "about $1,000"...no matter what the question. I have 135K miles on my '98 S70 T-5 and would like to do some of the unbolt and re-bolt repairs when I can...Victor's instructions sure helped.

TMR in Eden Prairie...waiting for the Pizza Hut delivery.

I agree whole heartedly with you Klaus....it's hard to do repairs in this cold weather. Was going to get my PCV hoses changed and my mechanic took the whole day off. Anyway, was wondering if you have a T5 like my '98....regards, MIJ.

OH, by the way...Hooray for Victor Rocha...he's the best and I highly recommend him.

Your mechanic was probably staying warm by the stil, making sure the moonshine didn't freeze!
Nope, same motor but with awd and suede seats & surround sound.

Nice on your V70! (I had originally said S70...well, I was wrong...your description only comes in the wagon in the '98MY)
If he was taste testing that shine, I'll be pissed...Had to work all day myself.

Had Volvos since 1980...also Land Cruisers since 1990. Current Volve is bright red 1998 S70 T-5...w/spoiler and mauve leather. It has been a GREAT car and still looks good with 135K miles. Not sure we will keep the Volvo streak going when we buy in the next twelve months. Don't like the S80 and the 50/60s are too small. MAY go for a XC...or a Lexus (Camry)...TMR
