My 93 will not start. Parked it in garage on Saturday. Get up today to go to work, cranks, sputters, won't start. 10 degrees outside. About 25 in garage. New plugs installed, Heet in tank. Battery 2 years old. Cams turning, idle motor hums. Plenty of fuel on the fouled plugs, seems like the pump is working. Posted this on Volvospeed as well.

Any thoughts on what to try? Have to drive a crummy Lincoln Town car until I can figure this out. Please Help!!!!

    Same thing happened to my 1993 850 GLT. Turns out the battery had leaked acid onto some wire so the car would not start. New battery, new wire. Hey, at least I can change a tire.

    If your plugs are wet, They aren't firing. First, floor the gas pedal when you engage the starter, that tells the ECU to stop delivering gas because you have a flooded engine.
    If that doesn't work, check the spark at the plugs.

    Punch the gas and keep cranking and cranking...many have posted that on older 850's they finally start after about a minute of cranking. Hope your battery is fully charged. If that still doesn't do it, then try heating your garage and/or getting it to a good mechanic. Good luck.

      Wait, so you mean to tell me that Volvo's fuel injection system w/ the ignition switch in the start/crank position and pedal @ full throttle so throttle position sensor reads WOT then it won't give it any fuel? I know Volvo was miles ahead of American made vehicles but I'd never heard of that. How does it accomplish it? Does it turn off the fuel pump? Do the injectors not open?

        Injectors don't open. My 1972 164E had this feature.

          The 72 definitely had a WOT contact on the throttle position sensor. I'm not positive to be honest that it could cut off the fuel but I seem to remember that from the manual. Many other modern cars do have this flooding remedy, though.
