Barking suspension pieces. V70-XC70 1998

I am sure this topic has been discussed many times in this forum. Let's discuss it again for my benefit. It is time for me to do suspension work on my beloved 1998 V70 T5 with 113K miles. For all of you out there who have invented the wheel on your own, please advise as to what parts need to be replaced in addition to struts, strut plates, spring bushings, and rear shocks. Am I going over board? Can anyone discuss the real benefits of Bilsteins vs. Monroes vs. Boge, etc.,... Any advice would be appreciated.

    Fix only what's broken.
With your car, sway bar links and upper strut bushings are the most common 2 items to fail, front susp. The struts last a very long time w/o problems.
With age, miles, an occasional ball joint may also fail. Those are part of the lower control arm and not cheap.
The rear shock upper mounts can fail (break) with age and they're inexpensive, easy to replace. Again, the rear shocks rarely fail.
