I have had an on-going saga with my 96 855T (92K mi). I think the problems may have started several weeks ago when i had the check engine light diagnosed as an EVAP system leak. The mechanic addressed the problem by replacing the PCV valve, but as they are not really Volvo savy, I'm thinking they may have screwed up. Here's why - soon thereafter, I noticed an oil leak coming from the lower right-hand (passenger side) of the radiator. A second mechanic ("Volvo specialist") found the oil leak to be the O-rings on the oil lines. He quoted me $120.00 per line (2) to replace - or maybe he was just talking about the O-rings, + $130.00 labor. Does this seem reasonable?
A second problem that came up after the first mechanic did the PCV valve, was that on cold start, the engine idles up really high for several seconds. I've read that a clogged PCV can cause both problems. Am I on the right track here?
thanks,
sk
