Changing lower Radiator hose looks like a bear!! 850 1995

Anyone have any advice - it is avery long hose and loops about much of the underhood real estate. Does it need to be done from below? Does the 850 have to be up on ramps? I have seen the volvospeed bay13 on radiator replacement - but that's not related to this. Bay13 did talk about a block drain plug - now that seems to need ramps just to be able to view.
SO the car is almost 11years old. I'm the original owner (65K miles) and if it's a tough job to replace that lower hose maybe I'll just take it to the dealer. I just did my rear brake pads - that seemed easy enought. Oh yea - the car is off the road while I drive my other toys - so I can put up with some delays - although I can't leave it up on ramps for more than a day.

As the preious have said but I found that tieing a chaser cord to the old hose, pulling it out the bottom and use the cord to pull the new hose back up through to original position works well. Going around the curve of the trans bellhousing may need good sunlight and slick cream on the arms to snake the hose through. Once done you'll have no problem doing it over again every 30K.
New clamps, initial light tightening, gentle but firm tighten after warm up.

OK - I'll go for it. Prestone or Volvo antifreeze? 850 1995

Antifreeze doesn't matter (or I should say that it does matter but you don't have to buy the expensive Volvo type)...just make sure it is the flouresent yellow/green stuff and not the other stuff (which does matter) I've never used Volvo coolant in any of our cars.

It's not too bad of a job. You will have to work form the top and bottom. Remove the air cleaner box and splash pan for access. Auto Zone (Gates) hoses work fine.

Below is better. Get the hose from thedealer. It is much better. Or goto AUtoZone, and get one. May not fit as closely as the dealer one, but hey !
