Actually you can swap another used one in if you’re lucky enough to find one with the right code numbers on it. I did it on my 2003. There’s a white sticker on the module that has the code numbers on it.

Like Klaus suggested, depending upon what’s wrong with it, taking it apart and cleaning the internal contacts might be a fix.
