I was hoping for a quick, cheap repair. Yours sounds real good, and cheap. Thank you.
I could also get an aluminum rod, bend it properly, and just clamp it to the tail pipe. This would not be a permanent 'fix'. I had thought about replacing the entire muffler, but someone welded the muffler pipe to the cat and really screwed it up.
But, I just showed the car to its previous owner. She wants to buy it back. I don't blame her, it looks that much better than when she sold it to me. Of course, there are about $1200 in parts that I put on. Not counting a few hours of labor, and the days spent removing tar and rubbing compound to remove the small scratches.
