Liquid Petrol Gas Pics for Joaquin Novara 120-130

For Joaquin Novara and interested people...

A bit late though, but still, here’s some pic’s of my LPG setup.

-the LPG tank. (36 ltr’s) (you can fill those up to about 80% for safety reasons) (some people think it would be dangerous driving with this pressure tank, but I’m quite sure there are 0 (zero!) recordings of problems with the tank in accident/crashes) (I personally think it’s even safer then a petrol tank…)

-the shut off valve in the petrol line (behind fuel pump)

-a vaporiser with wiring (fuel switch and relay)

-a SU carb with LPG-venturi-bit in place (this is from a double SU setup, see the Y-bit in the gas line)(I think the venture bits of a double carb. setup are a bit smaller in diameter because of less flow, but I’m not sure)

-a venture bit that fits in between air cleaner and carb. (Stromberg in this case)

-wire running from coil/distributor towards the relay (so the LPG or/ Petrol valve can only open when car is actually running)

-filler opening for the LPG (Pressure fitting)

-overview of the vaporiser and setup on my daily car (little thick circle is adjustment screw for stationary running, thin large circle is the ‘main jet’ (just flow restriction valve) and notice the T-bits on the cooling lines running to vaporiser to keep it from freezing (red))

-an other view of the setup (blue circles adjustment screws again, green line is LPG from tank, yellow circle is the valve for the LPG, red line is short LPG line between valve and vaporiser, grey line is the gas line running to the carb.

*the red line should be a short a possible. After engine shut down there is still pressure in that line. Because of that the gas is still liquid. Once vaporised it’s an amount that can give quite a ‘bang’. If your car is parked inside your garage and the vaporiser leeks a bit (often does) the amount LPG sitting in the red line can give you that ‘bang’ when you start the car…

Hopefully this will be helpful to you. If you want some more specific photo’s or info let me know.

Cheers and good luck,
Ben
