After replacing and relocating the flame trap on my '86 740 GLE (non-turbo), I still have a sizeable oil leak from the passenger side of the car all the way up front. The leak occurs when the motor is idling, and for a while after the car is driven a moderate distance.
It looks as if the oil is dripping down from above, and running off of the (coolant?) line that runs left to right from the A/C compressor under the radiator and connects with a silver cylinder that also resides up front on the passenger side. Oil also drips off of the silver cylinder as well as the line.
My question is, where could oil be leaking from in this area?
Could oil be leaking from this line?
The only thing above the leak area is the radiatior? Could the radiator be leaking oil? Is there an oil line that enters/exits the radiator?
Should I just break down and let my mechanic put in the flourescent dye to trace the leak?
Any advice is appreciated...
