1987 740 turbo or 1989 780 v6 700

Hello All

I have had the pleasure of test driving a 1989 780 with 135k miles on it. The car was a dream to drive. I guess I just liked it because it had A/C and it ran so smoothly. It was a nice car. The interior was in immaculate condition. I really liked it alot. The used car lot wanted 4,000 for it. I am seriously considering it, but I thought I would ask you advice first. The other car that I am considering is a 1987 740 turbo with 180k on it. The car looks like it is in decent condition, but the dealer says that the car continually drains batteries like no other. He has already put 2 batteries in it. It was listed for 2500, but since it is in non-running status (it drains the batteries dead) he will take $800 for it as is. I have had some real money pits before. I owned aa 1983 240 turbo that had a lot of problems. The dealer says that they had a mechanic check out the alternator and they concluded that it wasn't the alternator. The other thing that I noticed on the car was that there was fluid of sorts on the fron of the engine. They said that they had just replaced something that had to do with the heat or a/c. I was wondering if this 740 turbo would be a wise investment or should I just go for something in better condit6ion. The problem seems like it is something simple that can be fixed. Thanks for your advice.
