Overheating

I bought my 1958 P544 Station Wagon in 1973 for all of $175. Driving it from Austin, TX to San Angelo, TX it began overheating. I pulled into a gas station in tiny Pontotoc, and the female attendant quickly found the problem: the flap was pulled up in front of the radiator. On these old Volvos, there was a flap activated by a pull-out handle on the dash. It was handy during extreme winters (Swedish ones, no doubt), but had no real use in Central Texas. Live and learn.
