When I was in college, before most of you were born, that term was used
interchangeably with other words for penis so I am reluctant to use it in
anything remotely resembling polite conversation.
Since the 240s have multiplied like the sand of the sea, along with population
and traffic, and at the same time what I consider to be "real" Volvos have
been relegated to collections, scrap heaps, recycling yards, etc (although I
have seen a few really nice ones on ebay lately), said 240s have pretty much
usurped the place in society of the PV (444, 544), not to mention the 122, 1800
and the 140/164. I'm wondering if you guys sound off when you see the oldtimers?
I would be quick to admit that I am a Volvo fanatic and I also agree that the
late models (post-75) do have some desirable engineering features but but their
insane requirements for metric tools, engines that can't or won't sit up
straight, and miscellaneous other problems working on them have pretty much
turned me off. I'll stick with the oldtimers, warts, D-jets, SUs and all.
Hope you guys keep ROLLING through a blessed and prosperous new year!
