Towing a Car?

Damn! Was coming back from Des Moines last night and hit a hand truck in the middle of the freeway, which destroyed some of the plastic on the front of the car as well as the power steering pump pulley. This was due to some moron construction worker who did not secure the truck in his vehicle.

Anyway, I've got to have the car towed to Ames. Any tips on towing? Flat-bed or hoist? Driveshaft disconnect? The average tow operator around here does not inspire confidence.
