Are you SURE you have a spark when it fails to start. If your car has jetronic injection, which I think it has, the only things that stop it dead are fuel pump not running (typically relay) or ignition fault (typically hall sensor). Next time it fails, watch the tach while cranking. The needle should bounce. If it's dead you have an ignition fault, probably the hall sensor or its connection (both common problems) or possibly the power stage or rarely the ECU. If tach bounces, make sure you can hear the fuel pump for a second, after you release the key. If you can't, suspect the fuel pump relay.
If none of these symptons, you may have an intermittent coil - less likely. Regards.
