I have an 86 240 DL Station Wagon with 185k and the speedo is working, but the odo has stoped and then started again. I understand there is also a guy in Michigan that repairs these electronic speedos. But please take warning that in New York State, and suspect the rest of the country as well, you must have the odometer set to the miles that were on the car when you sent it out for repai or else zeroed. If zeroed then a sign plate has to be attached to the door stating that the mileage doesnot reflect the true mileage of the car. This is inspite of any legal wording to the effect that a car ten years old or older is exempt from any true mileage provisions of the consumer protection laws. The red flag will be set in New York State at state inspection time when the mileage is reported off the odometer. In otherwords either put a speedometer in with more mileage than your last inspection, zero miles, but in no case less miles than your last state inspection or your registration will be suspended.
Anyone that can help me with my problem please chime in.
