replacing the seal 120-130 1967

When I replaced my pinion seal, it was on the street here in Hell City (NYC). I drilled two holes in a piece of 1/8" X 1"-1/2" X 1-1/2" angle. Bolted that to the flange and used the ground as a stop - then a breaker bar with pipe extension to remove the nut. Now this was on my back without a torque wrench. I drilled a hole in the metal lip of the seal, and with a "slide hammer" approximation was able to pull the seal. I tightend that nut up as well as I could on my back, and haaven't had any noise or problem. Still have that piece of angle.
