I've got one sitting in my garage, along with a complete M410 tranny for
when mine get in bad shape. They came from "Volman" in Binghampton, NY,
(or thereabouts) and my son in law picked them up and took them home to
a place near Wilkes-Barre. A cousin's husband came through on the way from
Maine to California with a trailer, and picked them up and brought them to me.
The engine was "free to good home" and the tranny was $250. Interestingly
enough the engine is identical to one I got from a Volvo guy in the mountains
in Panama (400 serial numbers different) that the Panama dealer had removed
from a car because he couldn't deal with the FI system so he replaced the
WHOLE ENGINE!!!. I put my carbureted manifolds on it, plugged the injector
holes and it's running still- that was about 1985. BTW the Volvo dealer in
Panama was 300 miles from where I got the engine... Paid $175 for it.
Still got most of the original B30A engine also, which at 204,000 miles
turned out to have a noisy timing gear after I had replaced it. no measurable
wear on the crank or any of the main or rod bearings and only 0.005" cylinder
wear at the worst place. The cam was going bad though.
So I am not a potential client for the engine but I do hope it finds a good
home. GREAT engine!!
Speaking of rambling on...
Best regards,
