engine casting numbers? 700 1992

The engine casting date is on the block, under the right hand motor mount as shown in the picture below. This block was cast on the 12th day of the 5th month of 1990.



The Engine Identification Number (EIN) is machined in the block in the picture below. This is on the front of the block, just under the head on the intake side. The EIN for 1992 is 1289429 and follows the B230FT. The last five digits are the engine serial number, 02548. Obviously the B230FT identifies this block as a turbo block. This is a 1991 engine and Volvo used the same EIN for 1991 and 1992 for cars with automatic transmission.
