i thought wd40 was a particulaarly crappy lubricator but a great cleaner....

but of course your right specialist lock oils are available (often with alleged anti freze properties) I just use duck oil cos i use it for all sorts (hint if duck oil wont do it motorcycle spray chain lude probably will...)

aghhhhh please dont use that on locks though!
